The Landscape of Resonances Series is comprised of fourteen bold paintings. As in an orchestral masterpiece, various melodic and harmonic lines come together to create dynamic movement and depth. With multiple, striking layers, the paintings build slowly to an intricate and beautiful whole.
This grouping is named in part for the similarities between the texture found in orchestral music and the detailed layered textures in each painting. The other undeniable tie remains between these pieces and Susan's relationship with nature. Many layers of paint come together harmoniously, much in the same way that harmony is observed in nature. At first glance, it seems improbable that so many strokes of color could merge so seamlessly to form a comprehensible whole. But we see this in the world around us — each distinct system sustains the next.
