Susan Swartz Studios is pleased to present this year’s seasonal exhibition, Winter Cadence. The work conveys an exuberant celebration of the holidays as well as a poignant expression of the season's unique tonalities. Fierce yet gentle, quiet yet jubilant, vast yet sumptuous; the curation highlights the complimentary polarities that vibrate in the texture, color, and mood of Swartz's expansive oeuvre.

Winter Cadence embraces the season's elements, offering viewers the gifts of revitalization and festivity. Throughout the exhibition, the audience can expect both quiet reprieve and colorful joviality. At the forefront of the curation is Field of Poppies, a fiery warm-toned painting that strikes the viewer with vibrant color and electric brushstrokes.

Natural Flux 104 features warm whites and delicate creams that span across a 6 x 6' canvas. Soft greys are used to highlight the texture that provoke imagination of Aspen bark or botanical outlines. The lustrous piece is complete with a glossy top-coat that shimmers like ice.

Swartz's most recent series Evolution of Nature is a body of work that pays tribute to the natural elements that healed her from two environmentally-borne illnesses. The series acknowledges the dichotomy of nature with reverence - capable of both ailing and healing, the natural world is powerful and fragile, deserving of humanity's utmost respect. Dried fruits, flora, and herbs are used as material alongside other nutrient-rich elements in the complexly layered compositions. The results are succulent, sculptural, playful, and opulent. Evolution of Nature debuted at Galerie Noack in Berlin in September of 2021 at the opening of Swartz's solo exhibition Three Dimensions.

Evolution of Nature 25 was recently added to the exhibition and is Susan's largest painting to date, standing at 6x10' in size.

From a recent generation of works comes Nature's Bouquet 34, a 4 x 6' canvas in which abundant pigments and texture burst from rich blues in an exhilarating expression of the movement of flower petals floating in wind and cascading through water.

Swartz is attentive to the ebb and flow of the earth, and her distinctive style is informed by her deep regard for nature. Winter Cadence brings to life the acoustic sensations of the season, embodied and channeled in color and light.
