With the flourishing culture and landscape of Portugal serving as the backdrop, Susan Swartz was invited as one of five visual artists to exhibit at the newly constructed Melides Art Pavilion. Designed by James Waterworth, SOHO House's former European Design Director, the Melides Art Pavilion is a remote eucalyptus farm turned artistic epicenter. The exhibition, held in honor of the art pavilion opening, coincided with Lisbon’s annual contemporary art fair ARCO, welcoming art figures, writers, photographers, and critics from throughout Europe.
The exhibition opened with a display of Susan Swartz’s triptych entitled Natural Flux 101, 102, and 103 alongside the sculptures of Aaron King. The two artists work, a synergistic combination of the 2-dimensional and 3-dimenionsional, settled naturally into the neutral, earthy environment of the surrounding landscape.
